I believe the lead discussant is responsible for: creating the focus of the meeting, generating the questions to be discussed, offering basic ideas for discussion, asking relevant questions during the meeting and answering question posed during the meeting, keeping the discussion going and on track, checking the summary an making sure all the issues are reasonable.


The most important role is to keep a good intellectual discussion going.
